EID-EL-FITR: NMNOWTSSA Felicitates Muslim Faithful, Pray For Peace, Safety Of Seafarers’ In Middle East

The Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and water transport senior staff Association (NMNOWTSSA) has warmly felicitates with the Muslim Ummah worldwide most especially Nigerians on this auspicious occasion of Sallah.

As families gather to celebrate the successful completion of Ramadan with prayers, fasting, and acts of charity, the union rejoices in the spirit of unity, sacrifice, and gratitude that defines the holy festival.

The seafarers’ union further extends its heartfelt greetings them, wishing them abundant blessings, joy, and prosperity.

The Trade union Congress TIC affiliate, further extended warm Sallah greetings to Muslim seafarers across the nation and globe, emphasizing unity, resilience, and safe voyages.

In a heartfelt message released signed by Secretary General of NMNOWTSSA, Comrade, Elder John Okpono Aleakhue ahead of Eid celebrations, the union’s President, High Chief, Comrade Bob Joseph Yousuo, while saluting the dedication of deck officers, engineers, captains, and crew members navigating the world’s oceans far from home.

In this time of global reflection, NMNOWTSSA President, HC Yousuo calls for renewed prayers for enduring peace in the Middle East.

He stated that ”Amid ongoing conflicts and tensions, we urge world leaders to prioritize dialogue, reconciliation, and justice to foster stability for all nations.

“Let the lessons of Sallah—forgiveness, compassion, and brotherhood—inspire collective efforts toward a peaceful resolution, healing wounds and building bridges for future generations.

“NMNOWTSSA also prays for the safety and protection of seafarers worldwide, who bravely navigate treacherous waters to sustain global trade. Facing piracy, harsh weather, and other perils, these unsung heroes deserve our unwavering support.

“We implore divine safeguarding over their journeys and call on maritime authorities to enhance safety measures, ensuring every seafarer returns home safely to their loved ones,”Yousuo added.

According to him, “This Sallah, may your efforts be blessed with success, fair winds, and the light of Ramadan’s lessons guiding your compasses,” he added, urging global solidarity in the maritime community.

The Marine Engineer and Chairman, ITF Africa Seafarers was quoted saying As the crescent moon heralds Eid, we pray that Allah (SWT) fills your ships with safe passages and your lives with abundant prosperity,”

“The message draws parallels between the steadfast faith of Ramadan and the anchors that steady vessels amid storms.

“It highlights the sacrifices of seafarers, from Nigeria’s waterways to distant trade routes, while praying for protection from challenges like piracy and tempests,”he said.

Yousuo who is also a member, ITF Fair practice committee Group, reaffirmed the union commitment to advocating for seafarers’ rights and welfare.
