NCS Snags N1bn Cocaine Haul At Seme Border On CGC’s Two-Month Intel Tip-Off
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) scored a significant win against drug trafficking, seizing 25kg of cocaine valued at N1 billion at the Seme Border recently.
Operatives from the Seme Area Command acted on credible intelligence at around 3:00 a.m. along the Badagry-Seme axis, stopping a Toyota Highlander and arresting one suspect with 22 parcels of the suspected cocaine.
Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs (Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection), DCG Timi Bomodi, who represented Comptroller-General Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, was quoted praising the operation as a showcase of professionalism and vigilance under Seme Command leader Comptroller Wale Adenuga.
The bust upholds Section 55(1)(c) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023, focusing on public health and national security protections.

The drugs, vehicle, and suspect were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Lagos Strategic Command, represented by Assistant Commander General Aliyu Wali, per their inter-agency MOU.
DCG Bomodi tied the success to the World Customs Organization’s 2026 International Customs Day theme: “Customs Protecting Society through Vigilance and Commitment.”
He emphasized NCS’s broader role beyond revenue and trade—safeguarding Nigeria from smuggling and illicit drugs—while pledging ongoing intelligence-driven efforts and agency partnerships.
Seme Area Controller Wale Adenuga revealed the intel originated from CGC Adeniyi, WCO Council Chairman, who tracked it for over two months: “Having a Customs boss in that position is a huge advantage—he kept following up until we intercepted the drugs.”
