The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), led by Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has celebrated Nigerians as they ring in the New Year, praising their unyielding spirit amid 2025’s challenges.
In a heartfelt message, Comrade Bunu commended citizens for enduring insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, soaring living costs, and transportation woes.
“My fellow Nigerians stood firm, weathering the storms of socio-economic pressure that ravaged the country,” he stated, attributing their survival to resilience, endurance, hope, and faith—traits he described as hallmarks of Nigerians in any crisis.
The labour leader, known for his pragmatic approach, hailed Nigerians as among the “strongest people” in the world, capable of thriving in adversity.
He prayed that 2026 brings joy and success, turning past struggles into triumphs.Bunu urged the federal government to address Nigerians’ plights urgently, noting years of suffering.
He called for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” to deliver tangible relief as the nation enters 2026, compensating citizens for their hardships.
“Don’t take Nigerians for granted for their thick skin in surviving these tumultuous times,” he warned.
Closing on an optimistic note, the MWUN President General emphasized unity: Nigerians have no other homeland, so all must collaborate for a better future “in peace, unity, and faith.” He wished everyone a prosperous New Year filled with quality life.
