The Senior Staff Association of Shipping, Clearing and Forwarding (SSASCFA)– TUC Women Commission, led by Comrade (Mrs) Rita Ononiwu, marked the International Day of the Girl Child within the port city of Apapa.
The SSASCFA leader said the celebration took place in partnership with United Christians Junior School, located at Liverpool Road, Apapa, Lagos.
According to her , “Their collaboration provided a valuable platform to engage and inspire young girls toward confidence and self-worth.”

Under the theme “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead – Girls on the Front Lines of Crisis,” Sir noted that the event emphasized honouring, uplifting, and empowering girls by recognizing their voices, strengths, and leadership potential during challenging times.

Comrade Ononiwu on behalf of the association expressed gratitude to the principal, students, and management of United Christians Junior School for their warm reception and support.
The event highlighted the rallying call: “Solidarity Forever! Women Are Great – No Controversy! Train a Woman, Train a Nation! Our Gender, Our Strength!” This message reinforced the commitment to shaping a future where every girl leads boldly and confidently.
Highpoints of the celebration was the women in shipping also distributed Sanitary pad, notes, biscuits, snacks and drinks.to the students.
