SHIPPING OF STRIPES: Navy Headquarters Decorates Newly Promoted Officers

 

Seven officers of the Nigerian Navy were officially promoted and decorated with their new ranks at a ceremony held on Friday at Naval Headquarters, Abuja.

Known as the “Shipping of Stripes,” the event marks a significant career milestone recognizing their dedication and service to the Nigerian Navy and the nation.

According to a statement, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, congratulated the officers and their spouses, praising their professionalism and commitment.

Comrade Oniha Erasua, Joseph Ekwere and Olangwe Fred Dagogo.

 

He highlighted the crucial role families play in supporting officers, allowing them to fulfill their duties effectively.

Vice Admiral Ogalla urged the newly promoted officers to embrace the responsibilities that come with their new rank of Lieutenant Commander.

He said “This is not just a new rank—it is a call to greater responsibility as Lieutenant Commanders in the Nigerian Navy. You must put in your best effort to combat insecurity and maritime crimes,” he said.

The seven officers promoted and decorated in the presence of family members, senior naval officials, and well-wishers are:

Lieutenant Bello Muhammad

Lieutenant Abubakar Sani

Lieutenant Elizabeth Aina-Kehinde
