NATIONAL SECURITY: NAF, NIGCOMSAT Forge Strategic Alliance To Boost Indigenous Capacity

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has received the Managing Director of Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited, Mrs Jane Egerton-Idehen, on a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters in Abuja on 7 August 2025.

The visit was centered on forging a strategic alliance to boost cooperation between both institutions in support of Nigeria’s national security, sovereignty, and technological advancement.

As Nigeria continues to confront evolving threats, the alliance between NAF and NIGCOMSAT marks a significant step in aligning defense and technology towards safeguarding the nation’s future.

During their interaction, the CAS emphasized the importance of building indigenous capabilities and reducing overdependence on foreign systems in securing Nigeria’s airspace and national interests. He noted that partnerships such as this are vital to improving operational efficiency, particularly in an era of network-centric warfare.

On her part, Mrs Egerton-Idehen reaffirmed NIGCOMSAT’s readiness to provide the Nigerian Air Force with customized satellite solutions to support its mission requirements, adding that the agency is committed to driving innovation that empowers national defense institutions.
