Port Police Commissioner Lauds Seafarers’ For Global Transportation Of Goods

The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola has commended the contributions made by seafarers’ toward transporting global trade.

The Commissioner of Police gave the commendation on Tuesday 25th June 2024 in commemoration of the annual International Seafarers Day set aside by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer , Port Authority Police (Western) Command , ASP Isaac Hundeyin disclosed that the Commissioner , who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, DCP Sylvester Uzoefuna, joined other maritime stakeholders and key industry players to grace the celebration of the annual International Seafarers Day set aside by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to recognize the contributions of seafarers to international trade and the world economy.

The Commissioner of Police congratulated the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, for his visionary leadership in piloting the affairs of the nation’s apex maritime regulatory body while ensuring that NIMASA’s core mandates are enforced which is in tandem with this year’s theme “Navigating the Future; Safety First”.

The CP further assured of the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command’s resolve to synergize with NIMASA in its quest for the enthronement of global best practices in the provision of maritime services in Nigeria.

The CP has continued to engage stakeholders in the maritime industry in furtherance to providing the needed security and safety of life and properties within the Lagos ports.
