The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has lost one of its astute members, Comrade Elegbede David, who was involved in a ghastly motor accident that claimed his life along Oshodi-Mile 2 Express way, in Lagos on May 4, 2024.
This was contained in a statement e- signed
by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN on Monday May 6 2024.
Until Elegbede’s demise, he was the Unit Chairman of APMT. He has been described by APMT management as one worker, who’ was committed to work with total zeal for diligence at workplace.
He is also said to be one with sterling quality leadership attributes as a Unionist, which brought a lot of positive influence on members of the Union, and workers of APMT.
Comrade Elegbede started work at APMT in 2007 as Crane Operator and had been a well cultured member of the Union and a dedicated Dockworker staff of APMT.
The President – General of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, his entire Executives and members of the Union have been deeply grieved over the death of Elegbede.
Dr. Adeyanju, who in his absolute disbelieve of the death of Elegbede said that the loss of the Union’s Dockworker was painful and it’s still difficult to imagine as Comrade Elegbede was such a brilliant and and intelligent Union leader whose qualities cannot be overemphasized.
May the Almighty God grant him eternal rest in peace and also grant APMT management, his immediate family and colleagues the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
