JTF Commander Assures Protection Of Midstream , Downstream Regulatory Agency , As Troops Rescue Two

The Theatre Commander Joint Task Force (JTF) North East Operation HADIN KAI Major General Gold Chibuisi, has assured the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) North East, of his cooperation to ensure its smooth operations in the North East.

He gave the assurance when the Regional Coordinator NMDPRA Engineer Yusuf Shehu led the delegation of the regulatory body on a courtesy visit to the Headquarters Theatre Command, Maimalari Military Cantonment Maiduguri on 1 November 2023.

General Chibuisi who described the visit as timely and educative, reiterated that the Command will work closely with the body, especially in the areas of provision of adequate security in order to enhance its smooth operations.

He urged the NMDPRA to continue to do its best in its efforts to create stability of products.

Earlier, the Regional Coordinator NMDPRA, Engineer Shehu, said the purpose of the visit was to acquaint himself with the Headquarters and to also appreciate the Commander for the sacrifices and effort of the military which has improved the security situation in the North East, he urged him to sustain the momentum.

Engineer Shehu also disclosed that the body was responsible for the control and regulation of products, issuance of licences to petrol stations, as well as gas plants.

He added that collaboration with the military was eminent noting that it will enable them to successfully achieve their mandate.

The visit had in attendance the General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army/ Commander Sector 1 JTF North East Operation HADIN KAI Maj Gen PP Malla, Principal Staff Officers of the Theatre Command as well as officials of NMDPRA, featured the signing of visitor’s book, presentation of souvenir and group photograph.

Meanwhile, in a joint operation on Thursday 2 November 2023, the troops of 17 Brigade Nigerian Army in collaboration with the Nigerian Police, have rescued two Corps members who were kidnapped by bandits in Yargoje community, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to a statement by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations , the courageous effort of the security forces led to the extrication and safe return of the abductees.

The criminals abducted the Corps members while they were transiting from Edo to Katsina State. The quick response and rescue demonstrated by the joint effort of the 17 Brigade Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police resulted in the successful rescue of the victims from their captors.

The rescued Corps members have been offered necessary medical attention and support to ensure their physical and emotional well-being and are currently in the custody of the Nigerian Police in Kankara.

The Nigerian Army continues to solicit the cooperation and support of the public in providing timely and relevant information to enhance troops’ proactive  operational engagement of criminal elements threatening the security of the nation.
