AREFFN Tin Can Chapter Appoints New Executives, Harps On Capacity Building

In a bid to further strengthen the chapel for effective performance, the Association of Registered Freight Forwarders (AREFFN), Tin Can Island Port Chapter on Thursday, appointed new executives to run its affairs for one year.

The newly appointees for the chapter, include: Chinedu Ukachukwu – Chairman; Abdullahi Namama-Vice Chairman; Oke Ucheya as Secretary and Musa Gbadamosi – Public Relations Officer.

Others are: Charles Nnaji – Treasurer; Etta Ekpeyong – Woman Leader; Odushola Justina – Welfare Officer and Margaret Ego Eberechukwu as welfare Officer 2.

Speaking at the inauguration and presentation of appointment letters to the executive, National Secretary General , AREFFN, Mr. Frank Obiekezie charged members at the chapter level to embrace training and retraining on freight forwarding practice.

Obiekezie stressed that the association has witnessed a situation whereby some chapters were not living up to expectations adding that the new executives have a major role to place because of the operational activities at Tin Can Island Port.

He noted that the new executives are to inject fresh ideas and innovation to the Association for effective performance pointing out that AREFFN is not contesting with other associations in the freight forwarding sub sector.

 

He said with the knowledge by members of the association, will create an avenue for interaction and accurate engagement with customs on trade facilitation adding that capacity building was paramount for member.

He said AREFFN is a registered association and accredited body under the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding In Nigeria (CRFFN ) and must be seen training members.

 

In his remarks, newly appointed Chairman, Tin Can Island Port Chapter of AREFFN, Mr.Ukachukwu promised to embark on training and retraining of members at the chapter level.

 

“I will add more strength to my predecessor and other collective ideas by my executives will be looked into in the next three months to achieve greatness.

 

He pledged to regularly engage customs and other stakeholders to promote international trade.
