Container Volumes At Tianjin Port Surpasses 2m TEU In May

Benefitting from the cooperation with major Chinese ports and the efforts to improve container logistics chain, the port posted a growth rate of over 20% year on year in May.

 

Tianjin port is actively promoting the application of 5G and automated technology in port operations to improve handling capacity and efficiency of the port.

 

 

 

Last year, Tianjin port handled 18.35m teu in container volumes, an increase of 6.1% year on year, was one of the top 10 container ports in the world.

The figure represented a year-on-year increase of over 20 percent, indicating a more dynamic economy in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, said Tianjin Port (Group) Co., Ltd.

 

The company attributed the throughput growth to its cooperation with major ports across the country and efforts to maintain the smooth operation of the logistics chain.

 

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic-induced impacts, Tianjin Port handled 18.35 million TEUs in 2020, up 6.1 percent from the previous year, ranking among the top 10 in the world. ■
