The Ogun State Government is considering the need to establish an institute, which will conduct entrance examinations for prospective applicants into its Public/Civil Service.
The Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Engr. Tokunbo Odebunmi disclosed this during an interview with newsmen at his office in Abeokuta, saying it would afford Government the opportunity to be in charge of any examination that would bring in new candidates into the Service, rather than contracting it to an external body.
The Commission boss said they would work out modalities with the Office of the Head of Service and Bureau of Establishment and Training to achieve the goal, by encouraging Government to put necessary measures in place, towards giving the Staff Development Centre a facelift.
Meanwhile, In its continued efforts to reduce the community spread of Coronavirus, (COVID-19) Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has reached out to market places to further enlighten traders on the need to adhere strictly to guidelines on the pandemic.
The Commissioner in the Ministry, Mrs. Funmi Efuwape speaking during a public enlightenment road show on the reality of COVID- 19 organised in collaboration with two Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOs) named, Suredata Consulting Limited and Eternalstone, at Omida market, Abeokuta, said it is imperative to remind women and mothers of their responsibilities to protect themselves, their families, and other members of the society from the spread of the virus.
Efuwape said citizens should heed to the warning of observing COVID-19 protocols such as regular hand washing, wearing of face mask, maintaining social distancing, among others, adding that ‘’this will go a long way at curtailing the spread of the virus’’.
In a similar walk to Kuto Market, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Hon. Adijat Oladapo -Adeleye who led another team of officials from the Ministry, stated that the pandemic is not a disease for the rich only, saying the poor could also contact it, if care is not taken.
