The Independent National electoral commission (INEC) in Akure, the Ondo state capital, says the boat mishap that happened Friday night during the movement of personnel and materials to the riverine registration areas of Ilaje in the state did not in anyway affect the smooth commencement of Saturday’s governorship election.

Speaking during a press briefing on Saturday, Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Rufus Akeju, noted that all personnel and election materials were rescued after the boat capsized.
