In line with the ongoing synergies among government agencies, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has seek collaboration with the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in a bid to address issues bothering on waterways border crimes.
Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh who disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the service, said the synergy was aimed to address issues bothering on security and economic sabotage by foreigners.
The NIMASA boss said part of the collaboration with the service would tackle border crossing by foreigners who perpetrate crimes on the nation’s territorial waters.
According to him , on his verified Twitter account on Wednesday, the NIMASA boss lamented that foreigners have abused the immigration permit to deprive local and competent seafarers of jobs.
The tweet reads: “#CollaborationContinua. Today’s working visit to the CG @nigimmigration to address the twin security & economic issues of pirates crossing the border to commit crimes in Nigeria & foreigners’ abuse of immigration permits to deprive our local & competent seafarers of jobs.
