CUSTOMS: 17 DSC Top List Of Newly Promoted Officers At KLT Command

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) of the Nigeria Customs Service has decorated a total of 24 senior staff of the unit following the recent promotion by the service board.

The ranks of Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC) top the list of those decorated with a total of seventeen officers while Deputy Comptroller (DC) and Assistant Superintendent Customs (ASC l) had two officers each promoted .

Others include one Assistant Comptroller (AC) , Superintendent of Customs (SC) and Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC Ii).

According to a statement, the newly promoted officers and men were charged by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Morenike Oladunni to justify their new ranks while at their various duty post as more responsibilities would be added to already existing duties.

She urged the promoted officers to develop their skills in the core areas of the service with the view of improving primary values of the command and service in general.

The Controller noted that the resolve by management of the service to ensure credibility and transparency in the promotion of deserving officers and men was most commendable, as an innovative method of writing promotion examinations for the entire customs was observed.

While disclosing revenue generation collected by the command, Comptroller Oladunni stressed that” The tremendous achievements noted in the steady rise in revenue collected by the command despite the excessive traffic gridlocks caused by the bad road networks,in and around the command terminals can be attributed and not limited to one; a robust and dynamic relationship by both internal and external stakeholders, which has led to high level of compliance.

“Two, 100% physical examination of all containers by examiners and releasing officers and effective use of the NICIS ii programme.

“Three, good interpersonal and cordial relationship with sister units and other agencies within the port and astute resolve of officers to block all forms of revenue leakage.”

The Area Controller further lauded efforts of stakeholders who make use of the command ‘s facilities in spite of the challenges they encounter while transporting their containers to the terminals , calling on the business players to desist from all forms of malpractices and to make truthful declarations in order to continue to enjoy seamless clearance of cargo.

The command raked in a total of N10,203, 507, 971.00. in the first half of the year 2020.

Revenue collected in the first half of the year 2020 , indicates a steady progression in the last three years.

A breakdown of revenue collected between January and June of 2020 compared to 2019 and 2018 at the command are as follows:

The command raked in N1.905b in January 2020 against N869.2m in 2019 and N641.3m in 2018.

In February 2020, the command raked in N2.08b while in 2019 collected N722.9m and N713.9m in 2018.

In March 2020, the command recorded N1.83b while in 2019, it collected N1.1b and N940m in 2018.

In April 2020, a total of N1.16b was collected while N1.12b and N521m in 2019 and 2018 respectively.

In May, the command recorded a whooping N1.43b and in 2019 collected N1.12b and N855m in 2018.

And in June , the command recorded N1.78b against N999m and N1.09b of 2019 and 2018 respectively.
