NAGAFF Wants NDLEA To Embark On Intelligence Technique In Tackling Drugs Transit Entry Points

The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has called on the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to crave more on intelligence driven technique in tackling transit port for drugs.

The foremost freight forwarding group also harped on the need for the agency to improve on its brand and Corporate Social Responsibilities in furtherance to work closely with stakeholders in the maritime industry.

In a goodwill message in commerotation of NDLEA 30th anniversary , signed by Secretary General of NAGAFF, Dipo Olayoku on Tuesday, said Nigeria has exited the “World black book of drug trafficking nations”, courtesy efforts of the agency, adding that Nigeria is no more playing the role of “transit port for drugs”.
“We believe that NDLEA operations at the Ports should be intelligence-driven to avoid distressing compliant importers.

“It is also our view that the management of NDLEA should endeavour to ensure more discipline among the rank and file of its officers as a paramilitary organization. Though indiscipline is not at an alarming rate, but a “stitch in time saves nine.

The scribe urged the enforcement agency to cement a formidable rapprochement with freight forwarding associations pointing out that credible information and intelligence from members of the port community can only be made possible when stakeholders have a working relation with officals of NDLEA.

“As the NDLEA trudges on, in its journey, we wish to suggest that the Agency intensifies efforts towards currying the support of the Nigerian people, it has committed itself to serve. It must get closer to the people, and be more friendly. The management also needs to fortify its Public Relations activities, and improve on its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

“Above all, it must cement a formidable rapprochement with freight forwarding associations. This is because more success for the Agency requires credible information and intelligence from members of the public, which can only come when the people see the Agency as their friend.

“Against the background painted above, we at NAGAFF can say confidently that the Agency has manifested magnificent capability and capacity to deal deadly blows on the menace of drug abuse and its attendant fallout in the Nigerian society,”the scribe stated.

 

“As major stakeholders in the Nigerian project, we at NAGAFF are proud to be responsible partners to NDLEA over its achievements, and pledge our continued support as it marches on in the service to our fatherland.
