The Director General , Atiku 2023, Chief Dr. Emeka Kalu, has felicitated with Muslims faithfuls in the country for witnessing the commencement of the Ramadan fasting.
Kalu urged Islamic faithful to pray relentlessly during the fasting period and specifically ask the Almighty Allah to show mercy on the people.
The Atiku DG, in a statement issued on Friday by his Senior Special Adviser on Communication and Strategies, Mr. Stanley Ihedigbo, enjoined muslim community to use this opportunity provided by the holy month to pray fervently for an end to the coronavirus pandemic as well as for unity, peaceful co-existence and development by Nigerians.
He also enjoined them to intensify their prayers against the coronavirus pandemic and other societal challenges facing the nation.
“This year’s holy month is coming at a time the world is battling to contain the ravaging effects of Covid-19 pandemic, hence the need for all to intensify prayers and seek God’s intervention against the plague.
“This Ramadan fast avails you a golden opportunity for spiritual rejuvenation and devotion through supplication and other acts of worship.
“As you pray and observe your fasting, always observe the standard safety guidelines and other protective measures against covid-19 such as avoiding mass gatherings, maintaining social distancing and personal hygiene while undertaking their daily routines, expressing optimism that ‘we will surely overcome the new challenges and emerge stronger, he appealed.
Chief Kalu advised Islamic faithful to always demonstrate the spirit and ideals of Islam by living according to the tenet of the religion, which promotes peace, kindness and obedience.
