Controversies Rock Radio Bayelsa As Management Disowns General Manager

The Bayelsa State Broadcasting Corporation on Saturday, denied reports of any dismissal of staff under the employment, saying no staff of the radio station was under any form of compulsory leave or suspension.

The state owned broadcast outfit has allegedly passed a vote of no confidence to a former General Manager, of the station, Dr.John ldumange ,addressing him as an ex employee whose appointment ended during Seriake Dickson administration.

The statement signed by six top executives of the station further urged sister stations to discontinue any announcement on the contrary,pointing out Idumange’s action was aimed at destabilizing the station.

The statement reads in full this : “This is to inform the public that no staff of Radio Bayelsa is under compulsory leave and indicted for the destruction of property of Radio Bayelsa by some youth.

“The decision to send some staff of the station on compulsory leave is not management’s decision but that of the former General Manager, Dr.John ldumange to destabilize the station.

“Dr. Idumange’s appointment as General Manager of Radio Bayelsa
ended with Dickson’s administration on the 14 February, 2020.

“Sister stations are hereby advised to discontinue any announcement on
the contrary.

Recall that the erstwhile General Manager in a statement stated that nine workers were suspended over the attack on the station by hoodlums in protest against Supreme Court’s judgment that sacked embattled governor-elect, David Lyon.
