INDEPENDENCE DAY: NCAC Urges Nigerians To Embrace Local Content

Director General of NCAC , Otunba Olusegun Runsewe in a chat with some selected journalists in Lagos on Friday, said the independence day celebration should be devoid of sentiments despite the challenges faced by the country.

The DG called on Nigerians to use the October 1st celebration as an avenue to stop promoting foreign cultures and arts stating, that the country is a brand to behold in Africa and the world.

Runsewe noted that ” The 59th Anniversary should be a strong turning point for us to face reality and believe in ourselves.

In his message , Runsewe said:”Let me use this opportunity to congratulate Mr. President and the entire people of Nigeria . The future of this country is bright no doubt and I want to also recap that at a time like this , we must admit that we are going through some challenges but we must also take note that nobody becomes a champion without going through some challenges.

“We should use this anniversary as the way forward to come together.

He further urged  Nigerians to rise up in unity in projecting its values during the celebration thus promote her assets to the world .

Harping on the socio – economic benefits , the D-G reiterated that the nations economy can only thrive when local contents are exported overseas, which in turn would boost foreign earnings for country.

While citing instances, he maintained that tourism in  Kenya has become one of the highest revenue generating sector for government  noting that Nigeria has what it takes to depend solely on tourism , art and culture.

Recall that the presidency  declared Tuesday , October 1st as public holiday.
