3RD ANNIVERSARY: Gov. Diri Inaugurates Bayelsa Health Insurance House

Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State joined by his Delta counterpart Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, People’s Democratic Party PDP, Vice Presidential candidate inaugurated the Bayelsa Health Insurance House in the State capital, Yenagoa.
The inauguration on Thursday, was part of activities marking the third anniversary of the Prosperity Administration

“Today, we are reaping from the benefits of continuity in governance. This Health Scheme was initiated by my immediate predecessor and when we came on board, we looked at it and we saw the benefits, the enormous benefits to our people and we decided to continue with it, not only to continue with it but expand it. And today it has been expanded beyond the formal sector as it has included the informal sector in our State.
And we also felt as robust as the scheme has become, we needed a befitting office space and we initiated the construction of the Health Insurance House, it is completed and today it will be inaugurated,” Governor Diri said.
In attendance was the wife of the Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, immediate past Governor of the State and Senator representing Sagbama-Ekeremor Senatorial District, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon Abraham Ingobere, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Bayelsa chapter, Hon. Solomon Agwanana, Commissioner for Health, Hon. Pabara Igwele and other top Government functionaries.
Meanwhile, Gov. Diri has also inaugurated the Bayelsa State Community Safety Corps saying
:”We are all witnesses to the general state of insecurity in many parts of the country, with Bandits, Kidnappers, and Armed Robbers perpetrating crime on an industrial scale.
“This has warranted collaboration and the need for credible information not just in the capital metropolis but also from our communities to the security agencies to prevent criminal elements from carrying out their heinous enterprise within our jurisdiction is paramount.
“You have undergone some set of training and are expected to know your roles and act within your rules of engagement. You are not trained to become debt collectors, land disputes intercessors, or counselors in domestic conflicts, nor are you trained to become a nuisance, or encourage crimes in your communities, but to work in a symbiotic relationship with the security agencies in your community.”
The first batch trainees are over 603 corps.
In attendance were, the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Abraham Ingobere, member representing Sagbama Constituency 2 and Chairman, of the House Committee on Security, Hon. Bernard Kenibai, Brigadier General Eric Angaye (rtd), the Chief Security Coordinator/State Coordinator, Bayelsa State Community Safety Corps, State Executive Council members, and other top Government officials.
