$350 Million FPSO Departs Dubai For Lagos Port, As Zulum Hails Indimi
The Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has praised the launch of Nigeria’s first indigenous Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, owned by Nigerian oil entrepreneur Alhaji (Dr) Muhammadu Indimi, calling it a milestone for the nation’s industrial and technological progress.
Speaking at the sail-away ceremony held on Saturday at the Drydocks World facility in Dubai, Governor Zulum highlighted the EMEM FPSO as more than just an engineering achievement.
He described it as a strong indicator of confidence in Nigeria’s energy sector and the potential of local businesses driven by vision, discipline, and excellence.
Governor Zulum extended gratitude to the Government and people of Dubai for their warm hospitality, emphasizing the significance of the event being hosted in the UAE as proof of the deepening ties focused on innovation, trade, and sustainable development.
The EMEM FPSO, valued at $315 million, has a storage capacity of one million barrels and can produce up to 30,000 barrels of oil per day. It is the first FPSO fully funded by a Nigerian indigenous company, Oriental Energy Resources Limited.
He singled out Dr. Muhammadu Indimi and his team at Oriental Energy Resources for their bold and successful endeavor, stating that this project not only contributes to the nation’s oil production but also demonstrates the Nigerian private sector’s ability to foster economic growth, generate employment, and compete on the global stage.
Once deployed to the Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) 15, the vessel will enhance oil output and increase national revenue, supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at economic diversification.Governor Zulum concluded by affirming that the project showcases the resilience, innovation, and self-reliance central to Borno State’s reconstruction efforts.
