28Yrs Businessman Cries Out Over IGP X-Squad Molestation

A twenty eight year old businessman, simply identified as Mr. Napoleon Anunovi has accused the Inspector-General of Police X-Squad for alleged molestation and assault,even as he alleged that a total of seventy thousand naira belonging to him and his friend simply identified as Israel was stolen by the officials.

Anonovi made the allegation in a telephone chat with our Correspondent in Warri Delta State.

He said the incident occurred on Thursday morning at Ebrumede roundabout in Uvwie Local Government Council..

Anonovi said he was on his way when going to drop his colleague at a burial ceremony the incident occurred.

According to him, “They were shooting sporadically into the air. I was scared. They bundled us into their car and carried us to Eku Police Station.

” They beat us. They torture us a lot. At first, they said we should pay N3million for them to release us. Later, they said we should pay N1.5million.

“I asked them to allow me make a call, I called a Police Officer who later called, Israel Joe, a human rights activist from Eku.

” Israel Joe quickly called the CP abs the CP called the DPO Abraka who said there was no report like in his station.

“The CP later called the DPO Eku but he said no case like that was in his station. They denied us bail. I overheard them discussing the matter that the CP had called. It was thus time, they took the N70,000 that was in my Colleague’s bag.

” They wantes to take us to ATM. They molest, abused and stole our money. They beat us for no reasons.

“When they stopped us, they didn’t ask us to identify ourselves or say what we do for a living. They didn’t ask us anything.

” Ordinarily, they were supposed to take us to a Police Station within Warri Command. They can shoot us and say we are thieves. ”

Anonovi who sells mobile phones and its accessories at the popular Robson G.Shopping Plaza in Warri is calling on the IGP to order the refund of his money allegedly stolen by his X-Squad as well as the arrests and prosecution of the officers involved in the criminal acts. “I need my money back and those Police should face the law.”

Anonovi said the IGP X-Squad had dread in their heads saying,”I have witness in Eku. They went to a bush bar in Eku and arrested everybody there with the owner. “The Eku DPO and SO, they know about it.”

When contacted for comments, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke said,”I don’t have nothing to do with IGP X-Squad. You can get the Force PRO or IGP for confirmation. They’re not working under me.”
