Two Trucks Laden With Contaminated  Maize Intercepted In Kano

Two trucks laden with suspected poisonous maize have been reportedly seized by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission.

 

The two trucks of maize suspected to be contaminated with mycotoxins were intercepted at the popular Dawanau Grain Market in the Kano metropolis.

 

Dawanau International Grain Market in Kano State is popular among the residents who troop in numbers to purchase grains at a cheaper rate.

As the residents go about their purchase in the market, they were warned to beware of poisonous maize and millet.

The Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mahmoud Balarabe, who went to the market in the company of journalists said, the Commission has arrested two persons in connection with the circulation of the harmful grain.

 

 

 

Balarabe said the store where the toxic and expired maize is kept has been sealed.

 

The Commission’s Acting Chairman said, they would meet with the leadership of the Traders Association in the market, while an investigation into the case continues.
