CUSTOMS: Tin Can Command Advocates Optimal Utilisation Of Bonded Terminals,

Following the ongoing renovation exercise at the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Tin Can Island command, the Customs Area Controller, CAC, Comptroller Dera Nnadi has called on the trading public to optimize the utilisation of bonded terminals designated for the command.

Dera in a statement on Monday, issued by the Public Relations Officer, Tin Can Island Command, NCS, Ngozi Okwara , disclosed that command engaged stakeholders in an interactive session aimed to promote trade facilitation.

The Area Controller was quoted saying that the chat was on new modalities of what is expected of the trading public who do business in the Command on a daily basis, while ensuring that all new crested bonded terminals domicile in TCIP has space available for stakeholders .

He lamented that no space has been created at the command, even as he promised to address issues bothering on limited space at the command which was hinged on the ongoing renovation premises.

On cleanliness, the customs top brass advised stakeholders at the gathering to embrace a healthier and cleaner environment , pending when new bins will be distributed at designated areas as part of measures to portrays a healthy lifestyle.

Emphasising again his theme for the year 2024, which is “A year For Stakeholders,” the CAC stated that the well-being of all who do business in the area command is a priority to him, the command and the service.

Highlighting that the year is at its last quarter, he appreciated all efforts put in to ensure that the revenue for the year is achieved as he called for compliance as all hands on deck can make it happen.

Again, the CAC emphasised the struggles stakeholders go through during the ember season, especially towards the end of the year, stating that genuine declarations from complaint traders will not have issues of delay but for those who think they can circumvent the system should have themselves to blame as cutting of corners will not be negotiated.

The CAC gave room for questions, which he answered and promised that all issues raised will be looked into with the PROs of the stakeholders.
