Niger State Directs Immediate Closure Of Boarding Schools In 4 LGAs Over Abduction Of 27 Students

The Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has directed the immediate closure of boarding schools in four  Local Government Areas in the State.

 

 

Mary Noel-Berje, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

 

The Governor, She said stated this in a Statewide Broadcast  following the abduction of 27 students of Government Science College Kagara, some staff and members of their families.

The local government affected with the closure are Rafi, Mariga, Munya and Shiroro local government areas.

 

Governor Sani Bello said all options will be implored to ensure the release of all that have been abducted but however maintained that the state government will not pay ransome as it is not the policy of the state government.

 

He added that  it is to discourage the kidnappers from using the proceeds to purchase more weapons.

 

 

Unidentified gunmen kidnapped had earlier in the day kidnapped 27 school students in the northern Nigerian state of Niger on Wednesday, the state governor’s spokeswoman said.

 

The spokeswoman said some staff and members of their families were also abducted. The governor ordered the immediate closure of boarding schools in the area.
