Okowa Declares Dusk To Dawn Curfew In Delta ,Extends Lockdown For Two Weeks

Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa  has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in the state, stating that it was an additional measure to complement the government’s efforts at stemming the spread of #COVID-19 in the state.

According to a broadcast to Deltans, on Tuesday, Governor Okowa also announced the extension of the 14-day Lockdown which began on April 1st, for another two weeks and said that the curfew would run during the period of the lockdown.

Governor Okowa also assured health workers of the state government’s commitment to provide better welfare package for them – adding that the state’s committee on COVID-19 will soon announce daily hazard allowances for health workers.

“The state’s food bank established to cushion the effect posed by the COVID19 lockdown will be open for distribution of food items to people in a few days and we will be using the federal wards as a means of distribution regardless of party affliation,” Governor Okowa said.

Speaking further :“The state government is producing face masks which will be distributed to Deltans free-of-charge and the distribution of these face masks will start by the end of this week,” Governor Okowa said.
